For me Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston set the tone for the original Trilogy of Star Wars films, then Doug Chiang started out well with The Phantom Menace, but by the time we got to Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith they had so many concept artist onboard I think it got to a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth ! McQuarrie created some really iconic designs in the 70's and 80's !! It's a pity he didn't work on the prequels !
