Multi-tasking

I'm editing and writing...While the footage slowly loads onto my dinosaur-like computer, I'm writing part for of the Entropy Gate series. Then, once it's up, I edit. Tonight I edited the fight with Danielle and Brittany and now I am working on the confrontation between Norfleet (Granes) and Danielle (Gwen).

Just one more reason to hate Hollywood

Hollywood now proposes that in a new live-action movie based on the G.I. Joe toy line, Joe's -- well, "G.I." -- identity needs to be replaced by membership in an "international force based in Brussels." The IGN Entertainment news site reports Paramount is considering replacing our "real American hero" with "Action Man," member of an "international operations team."

Paramount will simply turn Joe's name into an acronym.

The show biz newspaper Variety reports: "G.I. Joe is now a Brussels-based outfit that stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer."

Well, thank goodness the villain -- no need to offend anyone by making our villains Arabs, Muslims, or foreign dictators of any stripe these days, though apparently Presbyterians who talk like Scottie on "Star Trek" are still OK -- is a double-crossing arms dealer. Otherwise one might be tempted to conclude the geniuses at Paramount believe arms dealing itself is evil.

So how is post going?

Danielle is being recreated by Zeke so that we can have her directly contact the Garum during the final scene. Ron is building the Garum. I am shooting images of the October clouds that are quite fantastic for Ted to use as background plates where the clear blue sky is visible.

I'm editing and Sean is making more music. Jon is working on the Drifters and we are looking for one more CG artist to cover us where Mawete left us hanging...it is a flyover scene that will run at the start of the film...the camera flies over clouds and dips into the forest...Mawete has disappeared, a common occurrence when you are not paying your crew!

Jon has been working.

More done on the DRIFTER.

Ted did it!

Ted has most of the bugs worked out of the web site! Check it out here.

I'd like to be editing...but...

I still have tomorrow's lecture on Roman art to finish and I just spent two hours working on the gutters and downspouts on our house. Its a two story monster (about 90 years old) and slowly dying. I'm covered in rotted roofing shingles because the Amish who 'patched' our roof filled the gutters and it fell on me covering me in, well, rotted roofing shingles.

Editing...it rocks!

Just edited a scene where Gwen finds the fur cloak and pipe that belonged to her old Caretaker (p.s. he met the Garum...it wasn't pretty)...I just so happened to be playing a track from Sean's stuff that he sent me. It was one of my least favorite tracks that he had composed. BUT! It worked PERFECTLY with the scene I had just cut together.

The new web site and other stuff...

The new and improved web site will be up tomorrow or the next day or later next week or sometime soon...anyway, one of the features will be some of the new sound track that the guys at somnambulist red have been working on. As I was editing these past few days I have been listening to the sound track they have been creating. Track 13 (which will mean nothing to just about everyone) is perfect for the death of Sallel. It hits me really hard and I love the weight of it. Hopefully Ted will really have the web site up soon and you'll be able to hear what I am talking about.

Editing so far...

What we have done...

1. Gwen's flashback when she gets clobbered by Danea and then confronts Tanesk.
2. Sallel crawls out of the forest and is found by Lilly
3. The Death Runner scene
4. Gwen and Clarr discuss the meeting with the Caretaker on 'the LOG'
5. Clarr bandages Gwen's arm after Bree attacks.

What I am currently working on...

1. Sallel and her friend being stalked by the Garum
2. Lilly and the drifters

A few minor adjustments...

We added Norfleet to the poster in the upper left hand corner and added our music credit and "introduced" Megan Tiffany as Switch in the credits...and of course i corrected the spelling of ted's last name...no one really noticed....but...anyway...

Editing moves forward slowly

Ted and I have been editing various scenes for some time now. It is a bit odd because I have never worked with a second editor. I am looking forward to seeing it all together. Hopefully our styles will mesh well. Each Sunday we meet and go over what we have done...so far so good.

Additions

We welcome Zeke and Jess to the post-production crew. Both are ITT students. Jess has something he has been working on in private (ooh you naughty little CG monkey!) and will do our opening flyover scene while Zeke has a lot of experience with animation.

The University of Saint Francis Faculty Alumni Show

Well it is that time of year again for the faculty and alumni of the University of Saint Francis to show off their artistic...stuff...two years ago I showed some storyboards and models for Darkness Aftermath and it was met with less than enthusiastic...stuff. Now, this year, I will be showing the poster below as well as the trailer that Ted and I cut. I'm sure it will be greeted with emotional and critical 'stuff'. I'm not complaining, that's just how it goes there...the cool thing is that the students will be able to see what I have been barking about for two years and it will get us some exposure!

Editing

Ted presented the trailer to me today and I was at first disappointed by the music...but then it started to grow on me and I think I really like it. We cut a few frames, altered the color and contrast on a few shots, added a few of my favorite shots and then moved on to the flashback I edited the other night. You see, I have Premiere 6.0...Ted has the latest CS3 (I think that's it) and he can add so much more to what I've done...like extremely real looking slow motion. So now we have an homage to John Woo as Debbie pulls off the cape like wrap she has on and tosses it aside in slow motion. I'll post it later.

Anyway, I'm off to edit some more.

Post Production is moving forward

After several hiccups, false starts, burps and delays, we are finally starting to see a bit of progress in our post work. I am editing the 'flashback' sequence where Gwen is attacked by Danea. This Sunday we are going to edit the scenes with Lilly and the Drifters so that we can pass that on to Jon Blume who will then start adding the demons in. I also heard from Ben Kamp and he has submitted the first bit of work for the WIP logo animation. It can be seen in the 'post production link' section of this blog.
