We were discussing the bear idea and Ron suggested that the Garum's lower lip would swing loose like a bear's lower lip...I like!!! I also love the 'birds' flying in the distance...now I need someone to do birds...any takers? Our CG team is up to 5 right now...
I think it depends on the origin of the Garum, if he used to be human you can't really remove the Ape-like appearance. Even if you explain that he has taken on more animal characteristics over time the proportions just don't seem to be there for a bear physique (especially around the legs). I don't recall the history of the Garum, was it an instantaneous physical/mental trasformation or a slow decline over time?
I'll work on more concepts for the Garum before I start on mauquettes. I'd like to get at least 3 good renditions of the creature before I move on to final stages.

Too gorilla-like...Ron and I discussed a more "Grizzly Bear" look...needs a smaller head...should have more soon...

The body should definitely be ape like...I was refering more to the size of the head and looseness of the lower jaw.
This is a cool pic ! I really like the mood in this !
