What sort of materials is this costume going to be made from ?

most of our costumes are made from cotton material...it absorbs water well and forms nicely to the body...I've been using a combo of wood stain, ink and oil paint to stain the cloth.

How are you sealing the oil paint on the cotton? My experience with that medium is pretty limited, I'm an acrylic and gouache man myself.
Once I put the oil paint on (mixed with a fair amount of mineral spirits) I throw the cloth into a bucket of water. The oils separate some and stick in other places.
I understand, sounds like a great way to make handmade looking clothing. Looking forward to seeing results.
Great color on this one. It creates a nice mood to go along with the drawing. Is this PS or Painter?
