Blindfolded?

My original plan was to have the actors use blindfolds that they could see through. Once we started shooting, however, I realized that it was more believable if they could not actually see and I directed them from off camera...some, who have seen the footage, have questioned whether the actors can see or not. After the last shoot, the question has been answered. Adam came out and was a tad more theatrical then I had expected him to be. He flung his arms out wildly and missed Sally and Stephanie's faces by a few inches with sharp wooden knives...the crew gasped...I almost needed to check my shorts. Sally and Stephanie did not flinch...at all.

I had a very hairy moment a few years ago during a sword fighting scene. The guy who was fighting me never mentioned he was mental and tried to actually kill me every take, which was fun as we were using metal broadswords.

I'm trained in swordy things so he didn't kill me, but there were big chunks out of my sword afterwards. Luckily I had clean shorts on that day.

I was a fencer in college for for years and did some in grad school so maybe if you ever visit the states we'll go a few rounds.

I don't think that would be a fair fight, you have the reach of a sasquatch or some other long limbed creature whether real or imaginary.

It would be like a fight between King Kong, and a human. I would pay to see it!

That's true! The 'actor' who was fighting Michael g Clark was in fact a nut-bar who just wanted to kill someone. We take better care of who we cast now, just!

Sword fighting is one thing I'd never attempt to film again. It's a real nightmare to get right.

My last short film was two guys just fighting each other with real swords and we did the entire thing AT NIGHT. It was crazy. They only bled twice.
They practiced for weeks with wooden swords then they moved onto metal. It was the only time I almost got killed on a shoot. My driver took off while I was still setting up the camera in the back of the truck and I nearly fell out.

Thanks for the post, Mark.

Thank for the uh...compliment? Jon
