CHALK WALK

It's that time of year again. I have an 8 ft x 8 ft square of scalding hot pavement to draw on and I chose to do a large portrait of Lincoln (our Lincoln Museum just left town permanently and I felt that it would be symbolic to draw the man on the pavement knowing that he would be gone by 9:00 pm sunday night.

First I laid down a tempera base to draw on.

Then the fun begins...the wind was wicked and I used a lot of hair spray to set it firm into the texture of the pavement.

My hands hurt, my feet hurt, my back is sore and my wife got so sunburned I call her the tomato. But it was finally done and now that I see that the clock says it is 9 pm, any moment, cars will be driving over it. By Monday night, there won't be much left.

Great sidewalk art there Mr Etter, that's an impressive Lincon. He must have been a huge bloke going by the statue in Washington.

Just posted the first trailer of the new movie on my blog, Mark went for the full on sweary version so be prepared.

I drove by Main St this morning and it looked like all the artwork is still pretty much intact despite morning rush hour driving over everything. Great job!

But... why do so many hippies show up for this stuff, I saw one too many peace signs...

It's a chance for them to get a free high from all of the chalk dust and hair spray.

Great job Allen! Sorry I missed you both days... I totally spaced it out, even though I asked you if you were going to create another masterpiece on Main St. If I made it I may have been another peace sign toting hippie... oh wait, I only tote my peace signs to the peace rallies. : )

Hi Allen, I got that package through with the cap, cd and graphic novel. Great work on all of them, that cap is a quality one.

The logo is pretty smart against the black. Thanks for sending them out.

I'm certain I still have the drifter model you asked about, I just need to locate it.

Michael - sorry it took so long to get to you. Keep in mind the comic book is part two of the movie. I'm hoping to find two more artists to do part one and three. Let me know what you think of the music.

Jon - let me know when you find it. Maybe we could work on it together out at IPFW.

I'm sure it's all on my laptop, but I'll double check.

Ya know... my brother and I used to draw comics... (styles have changed a bit though)

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...

Jon...that would cool if you and your brother took part one and three.

Saw your chalk walk art. Coolness! Good job....why Lincoln? Just curious why people choose the famous people that they do to depict in the artwork or lives.
